When mated with English horses of colder blood, they produced a horse of larger size, longer stride, more scope and more speed. Thoroughbred horses were initially bred for racing as amusement for the British royalty, but later competed in races on every continent of the world. Today they are used in racing and competition.
Thoroughbred horses are known for its speed, grace, beauty and athleticism. They are very intelligent and spirited. Thoroughbred horses need sensitive, skilled handling and are not suitable for an inexperienced owner or one with little time.
A good Thoroughbred for sale must have a long and low shape of the body and slender but strong legs. It should look elegant and refined. Most Thoroughbred horses are bay, chestnut, black, brown or gray.
Thoroughbred horses are the most important modern breed of horse and posses the speed and the beauty of Arabian horses. Individuals can sprint at speed of up to 72km/h and are capable of jumping a distance lengthways of about 10 m.
